Hollywood Divorces

Sometimes clients believe that if you have enough money, you can hire an aggressive attorney who will win on every issue. Part of this belief comes from Hollywood movies, television and media stories about Hollywood divorces. However, to put some perspective on this belief, go to the July issue of Vogue magazine for an insightful interview with the family law attorney who represented Brittney Spears, Angelina Joie, Mel Gibson’s wife, Spike Jonze and others. The interview with Laura Wasser suggests that her approach and style is not what you might imagine.
Laura Wasser believes that settling cases without going to court is the best approach and she even helps people who are divorcing to see the good things in each other. She states, "I tell them to try and tap into the feelings that made them marry in the first place. Dissolution of a relationship is difficult and emotional but it is also a business proposition. People spend a lot of money fighting over things they don’t need to spend money on."
